Before you visit the dealership

  • Write down the features you need and your total purchase budget.
  • Keep a separate amount available for insurance, maintenance and unexpected expenses.
  • Confirm the vehicle is still available.
  • Save its VIN, advertised price, mileage and listing details.
  • Ask what you need to bring for a test drive.
  • If you need a loan, talk to your chosen lender about the exact vehicle.

Milestone Auto Group does not currently finance vehicles. We recommend exploring options with a credit union or bank. Ask about membership, approval requirements and restrictions on vehicle age or mileage. Milestone plans to offer financing in the future, but it is not currently available. Do not treat a future plan as an existing loan offer.

When you see the car

  • Compare the VIN with the listing and available documents.
  • Confirm the trim, drivetrain and features that matter to you.
  • Check that seats, cargo space and visibility work for your daily needs.
  • Ask about known issues and available maintenance records.
  • Review available vehicle history information.
  • Look up safety recalls using the VIN.

Take notes or photos of details you want to discuss, with the seller's permission where appropriate. If you notice an inconsistency, ask about it while the relevant document or vehicle feature is in front of you. Avoid making assumptions about a title, a repair or an equipment package based only on appearance.

During the test drive and inspection

  • Adjust your seat and mirrors before moving.
  • Check everyday controls, air conditioning and heating.
  • Drive a safe route that reflects how you will use the vehicle.
  • Note unusual sounds, vibrations, warning lights or behavior.
  • Ask about arranging an independent mechanical inspection.
  • Review the mechanic's written findings and any repair estimates.

Do not use a checklist as a substitute for professional diagnosis. A short drive cannot establish the condition of every system. If a warning or driving problem appears, stop safely and discuss it. If an inspection identifies future maintenance, separate that from concerns requiring attention before you are comfortable buying.

Before choosing warranty coverage

  • Ask which warranty options are available for this particular car.
  • Determine the coverage before purchasing the vehicle.
  • Request the written terms and price.
  • Ask who provides and administers the coverage.
  • Check covered components, exclusions, duration and mileage limits.
  • Ask about deductibles, claim approval and approved repair facilities.
  • Understand maintenance requirements and keep relevant records.

Milestone can offer warranty options, but do not assume every vehicle comes with included coverage or the same terms. Make the discussion part of the purchase decision. The FTC distinguishes a warranty included with a vehicle from a separately purchased service contract, which may be marketed as an extended warranty. Ask which type of product you are reviewing. Coverage details should come from the actual written agreement, not a general description in a blog.

Before signing the purchase documents

  • Obtain an itemized total purchase quote.
  • Identify taxes or registration costs that must be paid separately.
  • Confirm the VIN, mileage statement and price in the documents.
  • Check that chosen optional products and their costs match your decisions.
  • Put any agreed work or promises in writing.
  • Read the Buyers Guide and ask about any return policy.
  • Confirm outside financing and insurance arrangements where applicable.
  • Keep copies of all final documents.

Do not sign an incomplete form or accept an unexplained difference between the quote and the documents. Ask for the difference to be corrected or explained. If you need time to read, take it. You should understand the transaction before agreeing to it.

Before you drive away

  • Confirm which keys and accessories are included.
  • Review any agreed work and its status.
  • Know which ownership and registration steps remain and their current deadlines.
  • Save the seller's contact details and any coverage contact information.
  • Schedule necessary maintenance identified in your inspection.

For Oklahoma paperwork and deadlines, check current Service Oklahoma guidance for your situation instead of relying on an old checklist or another buyer's experience. Keep transaction documents together so you can find them easily.
